Mary Bird

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Bird, 91, of Du Quoin and Pinckneyville, passed away at 6:45 a.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at the Des Peres Hospital at St. Louis, Mo.

Mary was a homemaker and had worked at Decca Records for 25 years. She was a member of St. John&#39;s United Church of Christ in Du Quoin. Mary was also a member of Du Quoin Senior Citizens.

She was born April 3, 1919 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Dominica (Lima) Cicardo.

She married Howard Bird on May 6, 1939 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2000.

She is survived by one son - Richard H. Bird and wife Candace of Lee&#39;s Summit, Mo., one daughter - Carolyn Houghland and husband Harlan of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., one brother - John Cicardi of Chester, one sister - Josephine Breitweiser of Orange Park, Fla., close nephew - Joe Cicardi of Pinckneyville, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Rich Luh officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
