Johnny Lenzini

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Johnny Lenzini, 84, of Dowell, passed away at 5:25 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital at Du Quoin.

Johnny had been a farmer and a coal miner. He was a heavy equipment operator at Old Ben 24 Mine. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Johnny was a member of the Dowell American Legion, V.F.W., Italian Club, and UMW of A.

He was born July 26, 1926 at Dowell, Ill., the son of Natale and Annunziata (Ogolini) Lenzini.

He married Shirley A. Watson on April 25, 1951 at Centralia, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2004.

He is survived by four daughters - Cindy Geiger and husband Nate of Herrin, Robin Allard and husband Wade of Vergennes, Lisa Cochran and husband Jeff of Elkville and Angela Sheehan and husband David of Du Quoin, one sister - Lorene Nollman of Shiloh, Ill., nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son - Johnny Jr., one sister - Mary Ann Lenzini, and one brother - Luciano Lenzini.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Hemophilia Clinic at Cardinal Glennon Children&#39;s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites were conducted.
