Carl Eugene Gleaton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carl Eugene Gleaton, 93, of Windsor, Calif., formerly of Dowell, passed away at 6:20 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at the Chancellor Place in Windsor, Calif.
Carl had worked as a repairman for Coca-Cola in Georgia and in Du Quoin. He was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church and was currently a member of the Windsor Community United Methodist Church in Windsor, Calif. He was a Tec Sergeant serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was born Dec. 3, 1917 at Baker County, Ga., the son of James D. and Lula E. (Mason) Gleaton.
He married Betty J. Murrah on Feb. 12, 1945 at Arlington, Ga. and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2009.
He is survived by one daughter - Pamela J. Arnold of Windsor, Calif., one granddaughter - Christine Thomas of Pittsburgh, Calif., three great grandchildren - Demitrius Thomas, Mia Thomas and Devin Thomas, all of Pittsburgh, Calif., several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gary Pate officiating.
Friends called from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.
Friends may make memorials to local hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
