Betty Lois Lockeby

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty Lois Lockeby, 88, of Wichita, Kans., formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:55 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kans.

Betty had been a homemaker. She was a retired executive of Target Stores. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin, Church Women United, and other church organizations. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was born April 26, 1922 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Leonard) Hurt.

She married Dean Loucks on April 9, 1939 at Bardwell, Ky. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1945. She then married William P. Lockeby on June 17, 1947 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2007.

She is survived by three daughters - Dorothy Brockel of St. Ann, Mo., Rosemary Niedens of Wichita, Kans. and Cindi Lockeby of Boston, Mass., one brother - Robert Hurt of Paducah, Ky., one sister - Mary Dike of Orange Park, Fla., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son - Spencer Lockeby, one brother - John William Hurt and one sister - Jenelle Miller.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin with Rev. Michael Ebersohl officiating.

Those attending the service were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the service at the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin.
