Gertrude Ann Smelter
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gertrude Ann Smelter, 96, of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:21 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville.
Gertrude was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois.
She was born Jan. 15, 1914 at Ashley, Ill., the daughter of Joe and Cecelia (Frisch) Miller.
Gertrude married Joe T. Smelter on May 13, 1940 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Tamaroa, two sons- Clarence Smelter and Larry Smelter and wife Shirley all of Tamaroa, two grandsons- Corey Smelter and friend Gretchen of Centralia and Craig Smelter and wife Nichole of Murphysboro, two great grandchildren- Grace and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Milton Miller and sister- Silverine Szabelski.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. The Rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.
Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Church Renovation Fund, St. Charles Cemetery or to Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
