Lucretia F. Burroughs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lucretia F. Burroughs, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:04 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

Lucretia was a homemaker. She had worked at Du Quoin Insurance Agency, Du Quoin National Bank, Marshall Browning Hospital and the Du Quoin Packing Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and had been a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Euzilian Sunday School Class and was on many church committees including the constitution committee of the church.

She was born Aug. 11, 1922 in Kansas City, Mo. the daughter of Egel B. and Nora Lizabeth (Shannon) Fleming.

Lucretia married Walter W. Burroughs on Dec. 3, 1945 at Kansas City, Kan. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters- Carolyn Loving and husband Kenneth of Marion and Linda McClanahan of Roswell, Ga., three grandchildren- Cristin McClanahan of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Devor and Drew McClanahan both of Roswell, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Harold Fleming and Ralph Fleming, sister- Dorothy Fleming.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to Samaritan&#39;s Purse and will be accepted at the funeral home.
