Sterling D. Lochhead, 95

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sterling D. Lochhead, 95 of 418 Washington, Quincy, Illinois died on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 1:30 pm in Sunset Home.

Sterling was born in Collinsville, Illinois on November 24, 1914, the son of Elmer Charles and Amanda Whitchurch Lochhead. On January 19, 1938 he married Pauline Gretchen Ginther, whom he had known since he was 12. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1999.

Sterling attended high school in Moberly, Missouri and then attended Moberly Junior College. In 1936 he graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. While there he was a member of the Phi Delta Fraternity. Sterling returned to Moberly to serve as the President of HRH Silk Hosiery Mill, Inc., a company founded by his father.

In 1955, Sterling and Pauline moved their family to Vinita, Oklahoma, where Sterling managed three plants of the Hosiery Division of Munsingwear in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. He retired in 1968. Sterling was a long time member of the Rotary Club. He was an accomplished golfer and played until he was about 88 years old. He and Pauline loved to travel and had been all over the United States, Mexico, Europe and parts of Asia.

Sterling moved to Quincy, Illinois in 2002 and later entered Sunset Nursing Home in 2004.

Sterling is described by his family as kind, loving, fair, moral, intelligent, successful, adventurous, a good family man, and always fun.

Survivors include a son, David Lochhead and his wife Rany of Glenview, IL; a daughter, Janet Strejcek and her husband Gus of Millersville, MD; two grandsons, Mike and Mark Strejcek; two granddaughters, Stephanie Fields and her husband Eric, and Julie Skvarla and her husband Kai; three great-grandchildren, Anders Skvarla, and Jake and Dylan Fields.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, Illinois with the Rev. Gary Mosimann officiating.
