Francis Eugene Dahlhoff

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Francis Eugene Dahlhoff, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at his residence.

Eugene had worked as a trackman for 36 years for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Eugene enjoyed doing lawn care.

He was born July 17, 1925 at Percy, Ill., the son of George and Ethel (King) Dahlhoff.

He married Agatha Gordon in 1962 at Chester, Ill. and she preceded him in death in January of 1988. He then married Georganna Summers on Dec. 17, 1988 at Birmingham, Ala. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one son - Paul Dahlhoff and wife Susan of Louisville, Ky., three daughters - Gean Ann Skurat and husband George of Campbell Hill, Kimberly Summers and Beth Bates of Louisville, Ky., Tomi Anne Given of Louisville, Ky., and Victoria Shearer and Bruce Pearson of Du Quoin, seven grandchildren - Joslyn (Mike) Simpson of Steeleville, Ill., George (Joani) Skurat, Jr. of Willisville, Andrew Nichols of Du Quoin, Makenzie Given, Cassi Given, Mannie Summers-Bates, and Sophie Summers-Bates, all of Louisville, Ky., and two great grandchildren - Ryleigh Skurat and Grant Skurat, both of Willisville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and two sisters - Loretta Ritter and Dorothy Varnum.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial was in the Cutler Cemetery at Cutler.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Friends may make memorials to the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
