I saw a UPS guy make a left turn today in Chester.?Are they allowed to do that??Should we call 1-800-GO BROWN?to report this?
The Popeye Picnic. Good family, fun, right. Lots of young, children enjoying the attraction. Enter two drunks, yelling curse words at each other not suitable for impressionable youngsters. I realize there is such a thing as free speech, but this kind of thing just shows how stupid people can be when they are fortified with liquid courage. When the picnic was a smaller venue, there was enough police presence to interview and at least hustle them away for public drunkeness. Now they are mostly concerned with traffic control.
Bought a new stove almost a year ago. I received a call from the maker wanting to sell me break-down insurance.?She explained that if I needed repairs after the initial warrant expired, a service call would be $120 just for showing up, plus labor charges of $80 per hour plus the high prices for parts. I'm going for the insurance. This brings up one of my pet peeves.?Service calls.?If I call an electrician, plumber, A/C or heating man, I'll pay a minimum of about $80 for the service call. My last experience was $140 for less than 10 minutes of work, no parts required.?Who was the first one to decide on a large fee to service a neighbor just down the street? And don't tell me it is maintain a large inventory in your truck. All businesses (clothing, grocery stores, etc.) have to maintain inventories.
It must be election time. Recently our sheriff has been in 3 photos showing cannabis plants. He is usually standing in the center. In the latest bust, nine agencies were involved, but only three were represented in the photo.
The Herald Tribune reported that campaign signs could be displayed 45 days before an election and must be removed 45 days afterward. Governor Quinn was the only violator! On day one of the countdown, hundreds of signs of both parties appeared. If they can erect all these in one day, give me one good reason why we should potentially have to look at all these eyesores 45 days after the election. Would someone with the power (and common sense) consider changing the deadline to a week afterward.
COSLHS of Evansville recently boasted of their student ACT scores. Justifiably so. I'm assuming all schools have their ACT tests at the same time. If so, why have other Randolph County schools been conspicuously silent about their scores? Are they ashamed to publish the scores?
