John E. Mulholland, JR, 81

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John E. Mulholland, JR, 81, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:38 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2010 near Chester, IL.

He was born to John E. and Edna Pearl (nee:McGee) Mulholland on January 12, 1929 at Crystal City, Missouri.

John married June "Judy" Butler on May 29, 1950 in Arkansas and they recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. She survives.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, IL. He was a Professional Civil Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor. He was a member of the VFW, the Elks, the American Legion, University of Missouri - Rolla / Missouri School of Mines Alumni, he was a former City Engineer for Sparta and Red Bud, a member of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association, he started and coached a Flag Football League in Chester, was an Indian Guide Leader, was a Longtime Sponsor of the Popeye Picnic Race, an Organizational Contributor for the Belleville Area College - Red Bud Campus and an Army Veteran of WWII earning the World War II Victory Medal and the Army OV Occupation Medal Japan.

John started his own business "John E. Mulholland Jr. Consulting Engineer and Land Surveyor" in 1965 and retired in 2009.

Survivors: Wife June "Judy" Mulholland Chester, IL; 5 Children: Judy Mulholland Griffin (Dan) Waterloo, IL ; Barbara Menke Festus, MO; Patrick Mulholland Chester, IL; Michael Mulholland (Cheryl) Chester, IL; Terry Mulholland Hope, AR; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren

Preceded in death by: Parents and 1 Sister - Barbara Phelps

Funeral Service were held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 20, 2010 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL Officiating: Rev. Gene Wojcik

Visitation: Sunday - 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm was held on Monday - 7:30 am - 11:00 am at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL

Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery Chester, Illinois

Memorials: University of Missouri - Rolla ; Missouri School of Mines for Scholarships
