Dudley L. VanZandt
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dudley L. VanZandt, 48, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from a motorcycle accident on Interstate 57 south of Marion.
Dudley had worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a day crew worker. He attended the Dowell Baptist Church with his wife Lisa. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 347, Masons, Shriners, Sons of the American Legion and was a Stormrider.
He was born Jan. 12, 1962 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Raymond and Emma Jewel "Judy" (Moore) VanZandt.
Dudley married Lisa Lipton on June 3, 1982 at Elkville, Ill. and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, daughter- Mia Rose VanZandt of Du Quoin, mother- Judy VanZandt of Elkville, two brothers- Van Ray VanZandt of Dowell and Frank Eaton of Du Quoin, father-in-law- Bernard Lipton of West Frankfort, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Lance.
Dudley loved Lisa, Mia and his family with all his heart. He loved riding his motorcycle, hanging with his friends and would do anything for another. He will be remembered always for his off the wall sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He will be missed forever.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Lester VanZandt.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Elkville Christian Church with Rev. Gary Pate and Rev. Steve McKeown officiating.
Friends called from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Elkville Christian Church.
Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park at Murphysboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the college fund for Mia VanZandt with an account set up at The Bank of Carbondale and will be accepted at the funeral home or at the bank.
