</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Herbert P. "Herb" Hecht, 81, of Chester, IL, died June 23, 2010 at his residence.
The son of Howard W. and Mary J. (Moll) Hecht, he was born April 5, 1929 in Bremen, IL.
On August 4, 1950, he married Wilma F. Berndt in Piggott, AR.
Herb was a retired laborer, had worked for Hanebutt Builders, and was a farmer. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Chester, and Laborers Local #925 Ellis Grove, IL. He had been a Corporal in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Herb loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on wagon rides.
Survivors include his wife of Chester, IL; daughter, Linda (Vernon) Braun of Sparta, IL; son, Gene Hecht of Chester; daughter-in-law, Connie Malone of Chester; one brother, Paul Hecht of Chester; two sisters-Elsie Rickenberg and Helen Korando, both of Chester; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-Roger and Herbert Hecht; and two brothers-Clarence and Glen Hecht.
It was Herb's wishes to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL, with Rev. Edwin Reuter officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
