Walter Lee Vancil

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Walter Lee Vancil, 64, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 12:37 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Walter was a retired truck driver. He was of the Protestant faith. He served as a Specialist 4th Class in the US Army serving in the Viet Nam War. He was a lifetime member of the Du Quoin VFW Post. He was a member of the Pinckneyville Moose Lodge and the Pinckneyville Eagles Lodge.

He was born Dec. 2, 1945 at Du Quoin, Ill. the son of Jack and Eunice (Williams) Vancil.

Lee married Betty J. Pickles in 1976 at Perry County, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville, two sons- Jack Vancil of Johnston City, Jim Vancil of Du Quoin, two step daughters- Cathy Schubert of Dowell, Julia Wright of Pinckneyville, grandson- Jerimey Law of Pinckneyville, three granddaughters- Shelly Melvin of Du Quoin, Heidi Gordon of Willisville, Tonya Thornton of Pinckneyville, three sisters- Wilma Mc Donnough, Dorothy Lunnemann and Faye Saddler, all of Pinckneyville, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step daughter- Vickie Davidson, three sisters- Susie Miller, Bell George and Blanch Rednour and four brothers.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Thomas Pickles officiating.

Friends called from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
