Vernon Eugene Huggins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vernon Eugene Huggins, age 70, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 6:02 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Vernon was born on Nov. 27, 1939 in Willisville, Ill., a son to Vallie Everett and Dorothy (Woodside) Huggins. Dec.9, 1961, he married Annetta Teel in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Vernon was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Perry County Road Maintenance for 12 years and was a truck driver for 22 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but his greatest love was caring for his family and being a proud grandpa.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Gary R. (Beth) Huggins of Pinckneyville, Ill., Vernon Huggins of Pinckneyville, Ill., Karen (Jason) Young of Percy, Ill. and Jean Ann Huggins of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one brother, Elroy (Ruth) Huggins of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two sisters, Doris (Chuck) Eslinger of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Fay (Henry) Clark of Du Quoin, Ill.; two grandchildren, Garret Huggins and Colton Young and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Eugene Huggins; one brother, Everett Huggins and one sister, Alvera Huggins.

Vernon's wishes were to be cremated and no services were held.
