Evelyn Gibbs, 89

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Evelyn Louise Gibbs, 89, of Chester, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2010 at St. Ann's Healthcare Center, Chester, Illinois.

The daughter of Octaavius August and Valentina Maria (nee Coen) VanDerHeyden, she was born on April 28, 1921 at Cresco, Iowa.

On October 15, 1941 she married Jesse C. Gibbs in Waukegan, Illinois, and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Evelyn was a Homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Chester and the Blessed Virgin Mary Altar Sodality. Evelyn attended the E. Burnham School of Beauty Culture in Chicago, Illinois. She had served as Election Judge on local elections for many years and also served as Adjutant for the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include 10 children: Helen Sasson of Chester, IL, Vincent (Donna) Gibbs of Fults, IL, Donald (Patty) Gibbs of Peru, IN, Donna (Roger) Cowan of Chester, IL, Allen (Linda) Gibbs of Chester, IL, Dennis Gibbs of Okeechobee, FL, Brenda (Richard) McVicar of Marion, IL, Thomas (Kristie) Gibbs of Ellis Grove, IL, Cindy (Larry) Eggemeyer of Chester, IL, Mark (Debbie) Gibbs of Chester, IL; two brothers-Elmer (Mary) VanDerHeyden and Roger (Dolores) VanDerHeyden, all of Rochester, MN; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters-Lucille Kruse and Dorothy Wemette; and one brother-Norbert VanDerHeyden.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chester, IL, with Father Gene Wojcik, Rev. Ryan McVicar, and Rev. Richard Cowan officiating. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m.- 9:45 a.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL.

Memorials may be given to Tom Gibbs for the care of Daniel Gibbs who was born with Charge Syndrome and who was very dear to Evelyn's Heart.
