Shirley Joan Bunton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley Joan Bunton, age 74, of Herrin, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 6, 2010 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

Shirley was born in Du Quoin on May 28, 1935, the daughter of William and Alice (McElroy) Hackleman, the seventh of eight children.

Shirley was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoor, working in her garden, family gatherings and babysitting her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her son- Bobby Bunton and friend Barb Heflin of Du Quoin, daughter and son-in-law- Debbie and Rex Piper of Marion, daughter-in-law- Karen Bunton of Du Quoin, Grandchildren- Michael, Ashley, and Amber Bunton of Du Quoin, Staci Bunton of Colorado Springs, Colo., Blaine Bunton of Du Quoin, Rachel Bunton of Tamaroa, Rex Piper of Herrin, and Jonathan Piper of Marion, Great Grandchildren- Autumn, Madyson, and Draven Bunton of Elkville, Amara and Gavin Bunton of Du Quoin, sisters- Betty Walters of Kankakee and Marion Blight of Peoria, extra special sister-in-law and lifelong friend- Lorene Hackleman of Du Quoin, good friend Tammy Waller of Du Quoin, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by ber parents, two sons- Steven Bunton and Brad Bunton, one sister- Rosetta Anheuser, four brothers- Billy, Jackie, Bobby, and Larry Hackleman.

As per Shirley's wishes, her body was cremated and there were no services.

Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin assisted the family with arrangements.

"Though you could not walk while on this earth, may you now run freely through the flowery fields in Heaven."
