Prep Baseball: Elverado bounces back

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Barely 24 hours after a humbling opening day loss to Crab Orchard, Elverado High School's baseball team bounced back with a harrowing victory.

Scoring three times in the first, second and fourth frames, the Fighting Falcons held back Webber Township 9-6 at Miner's Field in the Dowell Village Park.

Now 1-1 on the young season, EHS hosts Shawnee (4:00) and Scoita West Prairie (6:30) Friday.

Kyle Kempfer struck out nine batters and worked into the seventh inning for Elverado with Daulton Porter finishing up to earn the save.

Kempfer also had two hits and scored three runs. Brian McClanahan led the offense with two hits and three RBI. Troy Stewart scored three times.

E;verado fell behind 2-0 in the first but scored three times in its half of the inning and never looked back.

Webber's record is 0-3.
