Pauline (Shurtz) Giacomo

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pauline (Shurtz) Giacomo, age 94, of Herrin, formerly of Pinkneyville, passed away at 6:20pm on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Herrin Hospital.

Pauline was born in Perry County on April 15, 1915, the daughter of Clarence and Minnie (Crane) Shurtz. She married Frank Giacomo in Pinkneyville on April 15, 1935. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1982.

Mrs. Giacomo was a member of the Fist Baptist Church in Herrin. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son- Jack L. and Judith Giacomo of Baltimore, Md.; daughters- Sue and Jack Wilcox of Herrin, Ill. and Nita and Dale Baldwin of Herrin, Ill.; eight grandchildren- Gina and Robert Watkins of Tallahassee, Fla., Lisa and Neil Feather of Baltimore, Md., Frank and Rose Vaughn of Carterville, Ill., Michael Eric and Brenda Vaughn of Edwardsville, Ill., Robert and Cathy Vaughn of Herrin, Ill., Bart and Stephanie Baldwin of Marion, Ill., Monte and Amanda Baldwin of Marion, Ill. and Luke Baldwin of Herrin, Ill.; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law- Bob Vaughn, two brothers- French and Hubert Shurtz, and one sister- Davie Harriot Shurtz.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Grammer officiating. Burial followed at Mueller Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 11a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
