Alta Celeste Morgan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Alta Celeste Morgan, 94, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:19 a.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Alta had worked for twenty years as an LPN at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. She had also been a member of the American Legion Bowling Team.

She was born May 5, 1915 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of John and Ida (Woodyard) Woodyard.

She married Soloman Huel Morgan on Jan. 9, 1936 at Energy, Ill. and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2003.

She is survived by two daughters - Burma Miller and husband Robert and Sherry L. Moss and husband Stephen, all of Du Quoin; seven grandchildren - Kim Bergthold and husband Chris of Congerville, Ill., Kris Aken and husband Steve of Elkville, Kelly Miller and wife Yvonne of Du Quoin, Dedrae McIntosh and husband Chuck of Du Quoin, Shannon Davison of Du Quoin, Heather Lee and husband Mike of Tamaroa and Travis Burris and wife Jill of Du Quoin; two step grandchildren - Devan Vaughn and husband Scott and Debbie Moss and Wade Ruff, all of Du Quoin; 21 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Russell Ragovin officiating.

Friends called from Noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First Christian Church in Du Quoin or American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
