Charles G. Obertini, Sr.
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles G. Obertini, Sr., 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:57 p.m., Friday, Dec. 25, 2009 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Charles had been a welder and electrician. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and a member of the IBEW Local 176. He served as a PFC in the US Army serving in W.W. II.
He was born May 10, 1920 at Herrin, Ill. the son of Bert and Anna (Gertz) Obertini.
He married Hilda H. Heiman in May, 1939 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she preceded him in death January 28, 2007.
Charles is survived by a son- Charles Obertini, Jr. of Du Quoin, four grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers- August and Julio and two sisters- Louise and Julia.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. Gary Pruitt officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the McElvain Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
