Joan Craig

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joan Craig, 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Joan was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. She was a member of Sweet Adelines, the church choir, Ho Ho Ho Club (Home of Hallmark Ornament Hunters Organization), and Pinochle Club. She was a Cub Scout Leader, TOPS Club Area Captain, and a member of Jr. High Bandparents.

She was born April 9, 1933 at Buncombe, Ill., the daughter of Herbert and Irene (Boner) Boner.

She married Bobby G. Craig on Oct. 6, 1951 at the Christian Church in Elkville, Ill. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - Bradley S. Craig and wife Brenda of Du Quoin, one daughter - Colleen S. Shupe and husband Allen of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Nathan Shupe, Jennifer Dunmyer, and Leah Helbig, four great grandchildren - Blair Helbig, Jace Shupe, Olivia Helbig and Kennedy Helbig, two sisters - Betty Hamilton of Ferguson, Mo., and Dean Hunsaker of Du Quoin, one brother - J.H. Boner of Matteson, Ill., several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister - Jean Kelley.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. Mark Turok officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial was in the Murdale Gardens of Memory at Murphysboro.

Friends may make memorials to Cardinal Glennon Hospital or St. Jude's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
