Ruth K. Crews
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ruth K. Crews, 86, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at the Oak Grove Rehab and Care Center in Carbondale.
Ruth had worked as a secretary at the Du Quoin National Bank for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. She had been a Sunday School teacher for several years. She was a member of Monday Club, United Methodist Women, and Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player and had reached the Life Master in Contract Bridge. She was a longtime member of Perry County Country Club. Ruth enjoyed cooking for her family.
She was born Nov. 12, 1923 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Arthur J. and Blanche (Montgomery) Keller.
She married Frank R. Crews on March 2, 1941 at Cape Girardeau, Mo. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2000.
She is survived by two sons - Michael R. Crews and wife Joyce of Jonesboro, Ill. and Alan S. Crews of Louisville, Ky., five grandchildren - Kevin Crews and wife Betsy of Roanoke, Ind., Amanda Crews of Louisville, Ky., Susan Michelle Norris and husband Kurt of Stow, Mass., Douglas Crews and Laura Crews, both of Maysville, Ky., and five great grandchildren - Alaina Crews of Louisville, Ky., Vivian Crews of Roanoke, Ind., Kaylin Norris of Stow, Mass., Layla Crews of Maysville, Ky. and Madison Ruth Norris of Stow, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters - Roberta Kunkel and Genevieve Fruit.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Michael Ebersohl officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to First United Methodist Church or Du Quoin Youth Club and will be accepted at the funeral home.
