Raymond Edward Jadwick
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Raymond Edward Jadwick, 83, a life-long resident of Royalton, Illinois passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at the home of his son, Joe in Fuquay Varina, N.C.
Raymond was born Jan. 3, 1926 at his current residence in Royalton to Michael and Johanna (Butler) Jasudowicz.
He married Rosemarie Kristan June 9, 1951 in Royalton. She survives in Royalton.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Pam Jadwick of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Paul Hundley of Grafton, Wis.; two granddaughters, Kristan Jadwick of Washington, D.C. and Lindsey Dixon and her husband, Jonathan of Moody, Ala.; a great grandson, Benjamin Dixon, his little brother, Hayden due in December and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four step-sisters, Helen Higi, Frances Bean, Sophia Kreider and Ann Antoine and a brother, Stanley Jasudowicz.
With the exception of two years in Chicago, Raymond was a life-long resident of Royalton. He graduated from Royalton High School the class of 1943. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nutmeg and was a member of the Zeigler American Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance and the Zeigler Eagles Lodge.
Raymond was of the Roman Catholic faith and a life long faithful member of the St. Aloysius parish in Royalton and a fourth degree member of the Du Quoin Knights of Columbus.
He retired in 1988 after 23 years in management at Allen Industries in Herrin. After his retirement, he drove a bus for the Zeigler-Royalton school system for four years. Raymond enjoyed a variety of trades over the years including working on the railroad, driving a milk truck, owning his own tavern and distributing vending goods.
In high school, Raymond and Billy Grammer performed a country music radio show on WJPF; his brother Stanley was the announcer. Along with singing and playing the guitar in his golden years, Raymond learned to use the computer and enjoyed surfing the web and using email. Along with Rosemarie, he was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed porch time with his buddy, Trooper. Raymond was renowned for his grilling skills and especially his BBQ pork steaks.
A funeral mass for Mr. Jadwick was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Trevor Murry officiating. Burial with full military rites courtesy of the Zeigler and Orient American Legions, the West Frankfort VFW and the Marion National Guard Flag Detail were at the St. Aloysius Cemetery east of Royalton. Visiting hours were from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton. A prayer service was held at 5:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
