Edwin Dean Shaw

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Edwin Dean Shaw, 75, of 308 Burlington, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday Oct. 8, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center of Canton.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1934 in Bryant, Ill. to Dayton and Ruth (Haacke) Shaw.

He married Agusta Scott in St. David on Sept. 20, 1969. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2005.

Surviving are three children; Laura (Charles) Powell of Canton, Richard Dean Shaw of Florida and David Shaw of Canton, two step children Ramona Prentice of St. David and Randal Jr. (Ellie) Berardi of Goodfield, one brother Robert (Judy) Shaw of St. David, five grandchildren Matthew (Wendy) Powell of Canton, Sarah Powell of Canton, Chris Prentice-Bird of Pekin, Maria Berardi and Louis Berardi of Goodfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Christian Edward Powell, brothers Donald, Lloyd, and Franklin Shaw and sister Virginia Kennedy.

He had worked for International Harvester Co, and was a retired shovel operator from Consol Coal Co.. He was a member of the UMWA local, a former Moose member, an avid fisherman and had formerly raised and showed horses.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation was held one hour prior. Rev. Keith Jones officiated. Burial was at Maryville Cemetery in Bryant.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or St. David Optimist Club.
