David Richard Perko
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[David Richard Perko, age 68, of Tamaroa, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 2:44 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital Emergency Room, Du Quoin, Ill.
David was born on March 9, 1941 in Altoona, Penn., a son to Nick and Julia Perko. On Dec. 26, 1964, he married Catherine and they have been married for 44 years. David was a graduate of S.I.U. with an associate degree in Architecture, taught OSHA and Carpenter upgrade courses since 1992 and was an apprentice coordinator and teacher for Carpenters Apprentice program. He had worked for Illinois Central Railroad (Chicago), was a member of Carpenters Local 638 for 43 years (retired), business representative for Local 638 for 17 years for Carpenters District Council, and member of Shekinah Lodge 241, Carbondale, Ill., and Scottish Rites Valley of Southern Illinois.
David is survived by his wife: Catherine Perko of Tamaroa, Ill., his mother: Julia Perko of Newark, Del., two children: Michael (Annie) Perko of San Diego, Calif., Karen (Randy) Bower of Ava, Ill., two sisters: Louise Ann Anderson of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Ruth Jean Perko of Newark, Del., nine grandchildren: Marie (Chris) Gomez of San Diego, Calif., Julie (Ryan) Chrusch of Pottstown, Penn., Lucy , Jean, Lori and Kimberley Perko all of San Diego, Calif., Ashley, Brittanny and Cassie Ortiz all of Willisville, Ill., three great-grandchildren: Joseph Chrusch, Emma Gomez and Trenton Walker, three nieces, one nephew, one great niece, three great nephews and many dear friends
He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson: Gregory Perko.
Funeral services wireheld at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
At David's request cremation will be held after the funeral service.
