Father Harry Thomas Stout

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Fr. Harry Thomas Stout, Jr., 58, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 9, 1951 at Cairo, Ill., the son of Harry Thomas and Sarah Ann (Baudino) Stout.

Fr. Tom's grade school was at St. Joseph's School in Cairo. His high school was Preparatory Seminary at Belleville. He got his college degree from Quincy College and his theologian school was at St. Meinrad School of Theology. He was ordained as a priest on May 28, 1977.

The Parishes he had served in were the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, St. Clare Catholic Church at O'Fallon, Ill., St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Waterloo, St. Joseph Catholic Church at Ridgeway, St. John The Baptist Catholic Church at Red Bud, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Du Quoin.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He had been a Diocesan CYO moderator, a vocation director, and a Diocesan spiritual director of TEC Program. He was a member of the Priest Senate. He had been a Dean of the West Deanery. He was on the personnel board.

He is survived by five brothers and sisters - Mary Helen Wissinger and husband Jeff of Cairo, Nan Hall and husband Tom of Centralia, John Stout and wife Carol of Mounds, Bill Stout and wife Sheila of Olmsted, and Peggy Berryhill of Cape Girardeau, Mo., two aunts - Elizabeth Turner and husband Don of Cairo and Mary Eileen Karcher and husband Dick of Cairo, one uncle - Bro. John Stout CSC of Notre Dame, Ind., several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Mass was held at 1 p.m. , Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Bob Flannery officiating.

Visitation was from noon until time of service at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo with Bishop Stanley Schlarmann officiating. Final Commendations were by Bishop Edward K. Braxton.

Visitation in Cairo was from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Cairo and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. this morning.

Burial was at the the Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill..
