Roberta Kay McClanahan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roberta Kay "Bertie" McClanahan, 62, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:25 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Bertie was a seamstress and had been owner operator of Berties Upholstery in Tampa, Fla. She was treasurer for World Wide Tire Sales. She was of the protestant faith.

She was born Feb. 26, 1947 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Carl and Lorene E. (Harsy) Coffel.

She is survived by a daughter- Cindy Smith and husband Brian of Manchester, Tenn., son- William McClanahan and friend Taryn Connor of Du Quoin, mother- Lorene Sharp of Du Quoin, brother- Dale C. Coffel of Kankakee, Ill., four grandchildren- Brittany Smith, Jeremy Smith, Alex Overturf and Aedan McClanahan.

She was preceded in death by her father, son- Charles E. McClanahan, two sisters- Emma Lou Cadle and Eloise Henson.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
