Jennie Thomas

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jennie Thomas, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:58 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Jennie was a homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith.

She was born Jan. 23, 1917 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Santo and Grace (Daidone) Macaluso. She married Bennie Moss and he preceded her in death. After his death, she then married Melvin "Buz" Thomas and resided in Pinckneyville, Ill. until the time of his death. Jennie then moved back to her hometown of Du Quoin, Ill., where she has lived until the time of her death.

She is survived by one son - Don Moss and wife Shirley of Atlanta, Ga., one daughter - Trixie Malick and husband Jim of Du Quoin, two step daughters - Mary Rushing and Patsy Chism, both of Pinckneyville, two sisters - Millie Myers and Josie Cornaglia, both of Du Quoin, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Jennie also leaves behind many wonderful friends she has made over her many years of life. Anyone that knew her loved her and she was the best friend you could ever have. Jennie had a great love for dancing, she said that is what kept her young. She had a great love of life and always enjoyed life to its fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. Tom Stout officiating and eulogy given by her son, Don.

Friends were able to call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Luke Memorial Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

A special thanks to all the kind nurses and entire staff at the Fairview Nursing Center for taking care of her in the final weeks of her life.
