Thomas G. Montgomery

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Thomas G. Montgomery, 70, of Springfield, passed away Friday July 24, 2009 at Heritage Manor Continue Care.

He was born in Springfield, Feb. 11, 1939 the son of Sam and Mabel Preckwinkle Montgomery. He married Treva Folden May 29, 1965 in Pinckneyville.

Mr. Montgomery served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. He was employed by Springfield Produce for 25 years, Illinois Department of Revenue for 15 years and the Illinois Department of Corrections for 5 years. After his retirement he owned Montgomery Small Engine Repair.

He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church and Eagles Aerie 437. Tom enjoyed gardening, motorcycling and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Treva; daughters, Tracy(husband, Jeff) Bartlett of Sherman and Teresa(husband, Mike)Mohan of Springfield; sons, Tommy (wife, Nicole) Montgomery, Tim (wife, Ashley) Montgomery both of Springfield and Trevor Montgomery of Chicago; sisters, Carole Oggero and Janie Helmis both of Yardley, Pa.; brothers, Sam Montgomery of Chatham and Jim(wife, Janice) Montgomery of Pleasant Plains; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, four step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of services there at noon with Rev. Bennie Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park where the Interveterans Burial Detail.
