Delbert Wayne Leehy

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Delbert Wayne Leehy, 73, of Grayville, Illinois, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born September 13, 1935, in Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Paul and LaVada (Hadfield) Leehy. He was married to Edna Margaret (Bigham) Leehy, and she preceded him in death on August 17, 1999. He later married Emma L. (Buttery) Leehy and she survives.

Wayne was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the St. John's Church of Christ in Du Quoin.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Leehy of Grayville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis Ann Poiter of Smithton, Illinois, and Sandra Jean Hortin and her husband Ron of Albion, Illinois; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Gene Leehy of Du Quoin, and Nolan Dean Leehy and his wife Alice of Versailles, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Scott Vaughn and his wife Devan, Jonathan Livesay, Daniel Livesay, Jeana Livesay, Luke Hortin, Spencer Ward, Rachel Ward, Jennifer Swingle and her husband Warren, Matthew White, Jess White, Tim Clark, Larae Clark, and Lorri Clark; six great-grandchildren, Tristan Tweedy, Savannah Tweedy, Gauge Vaughn, Nova Krumm, Jack Swingle, and Ethan Swingle; and nine brothers and sisters in law.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and LaVada Leehy; his first wife Edna Margaret Leehy; step-daughter Vona Ward; and step-son Bruce White.

Visitation and funeral service is Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wayne's remains will then be transported to Galum Cemetery near Pinckneyville, Illinois, for a graveside committal service with military honors at 3 p.m. There will be visitation time at the graveside from 2 p.m. until the committal service at 3 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
