Ramona A. Tyner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Ramona A. Tyner, 79, of Elkville, peacefully passed away at 12:55 A.M., Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Tyner was born November 8, 1929 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of John Hubert and Lillian Gertrude (Graeff) Halstead.

She was the older of two children born to John and Lillian. She graduated from Du Quoin High School in 1948. After high school graduation she spent time working as an office manager for Dr. Hall in Du Quoin.

She married Kenneth W. Tyner on September 16, 1950 at Piggott, AR and moved to Elkville. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2007.

She worked at the Elverado School District as a special education bus aide for twenty-seven years. She found endless joy and satisfaction from the children, her co-workers and her duties at the Elverado School District. Ramona was also a member of the Elkville Christian Church and she greatly loved the Lord.

After suffering from a stroke in 2004, Ramona moved from her home in Elkville to the Jackson County Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro. While at the Rehab and Care Center, she enjoyed attending church, listening to gospel music, listening to Lane play the piano, and spending time with family and friends.

Ramona is survived by her children - Vickie (Tyner) Bush of Elkville, Kenny Ray Tyner and friend Trena Lindsey and her children Amiaha and Carson of DeSoto, Toni (Tyner) Stanhouse and husband John of Du Quoin, Greg Tyner and wife Amy of Elkville, and David Tyner and wife Jamie of Du Quoin, one brother - Raymond Halstead and wife Ina of Du Quoin, grandchildren - Kaila Tyner of Elkville, John David Stanhouse and wife Mary of Du Quoin, Mona (Bush) Martin and husband Matthew of Du Quoin, Kyle Tyner of Du Quoin, Kaleb Tyner of Du Quoin, Jayci Tyner of Elkville, Madison Tyner of Elkville, and Keaton Tyner of Elkville, great grandchildren - Elijah "Eli" Fennell and Isaiah "Ike" Fennell, both of Elkville, Kaylee Stanhouse and Jordan Stanhouse, both of Du Quoin, and a nephew - Hunter Ellis of Du Quoin. She is additionally survived by her extended family at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and niece - Gena (Halstead) Ellis.

Private family funeral services were held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Elkville Christian Church in Elkville with Bro. Ron Kreid officiating.

Burial was in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the Elkville Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
