John Dale Walters

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ John Dale Walters, 77, of Tamaroa, passed away at 12:18 P.M., Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

John was a retired Engineer. He also owned and operated an excavating service. John served in the US Army from 1949 to 1952. He served as a Cpl. in Germany and received the Army Occupation Medal. He also served in the 102nd. Amphibious Transportation Traffic Co.

He was born May 7, 1932 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Herman and Wilamina (Telkemeyer) Walters.

He is survived by three sisters- Freida Zettler and husband John of Tamaroa, Carol Jahn and husband George of Chicago, Norma Lee of Redford Hts., OH, three brothers- Hank Walters and wife Sally of Carmel, NY, Alex Walters and wife Judy of Mt. Vernon, Jerry (Walters) Heape and wife Lynn of Huntsville, AL, fourteen nieces and nephews, numerous grand nieces and nephews, many friends from Rudy's and The Mule Barn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister - Rosmond.

John was a fun-loving person and could always make us laugh. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Josh Zettler officiating.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 A.M. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Friends may make memorials to the Tamaroa Fire Dept. First Responders and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
