Opal D. Caldwell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Opal D. Caldwell, age 89, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 9 a.m. in Fairview Nursing Center, Du Quoin.

Opal was born on April 19, 1920 in Pinckneyville, a daughter to Elmer and Sophia (Rieke) Dippel. On June 16, 1941, she married William Elmer Caldwell of Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1989. In her lifetime, she had worked as a homemaker, and at Walker's 5 & 10 and later Decca Records, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Perry County Home Extension, and Women Missionary Union, and enjoyed reading, embroidery, crossword puzzles, shopping and getting together with her friends and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son: Jim (Eleanor) Caldwell of Pinckneyville, daughter: Marilyn (Ted) Pyatt of Pinckneyville, four grandchildren: Gail (Kevin) Batteau, Mike (Julie) Pyatt, Clinton (Jessica) Pyatt and Mary Caldwell, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters: Norma Lueker, Lou Tanner Susie Persinger, and Florence Hartin and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Brother Tim Bauersachs officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville.
