Carl Dean Millikin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Carl Dean Millikin, 79, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at his home. He was born August 27, 1929 in Pinckneyville, Illinois, a son of the late William and Lavaughn (Hagler) Millikin. He married Shirley J. (Logan) Millikin on June 17, 1950 in Pinckneyville and she survives. He retired in 1995 from Killark Electric in St. Louis after many years of service as a machine operator. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite City where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed his days of golfing, reading and bowling. Carl will be remembered for the love of his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Robin Millikin of Pocahontas, Joseph Millikin of Pierron and Bradley Millikin of Granite City; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Pitchers of Pontoon Beach; eight grandchildren and spouses, Kevin Millikin, Craig Millikin, Laura and Peter Kazmierowitz, Kristin Summerfield, Brian Millikin, Mark and Stephanie Millikin, Andrew Ely and Spencer Ely; two great grandchildren, Parker and Rowan Summerfield; two step grandchildren, Stacie Hartmann and Katie Pitchers; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill Millikin of Pinckneyville and Norman and Vickie Millikin of Bozeman, Montana; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rosalie and Ronald Kringer of Pinckneyville, Ruth Millikin of Pinckneyville and Hallene and John Overley of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Millikin and Carol Millikin of Pinckneyville; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Millikin and three brothers, Donald, Frank and Eugene Millikin.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Grace Baptist Church, 2600 Edwards in Granite City on Wednesday, May 27, 20098 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend John Gamblin officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund and may be accepted at the funeral home.
