Burton Craig Davison
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Burton Craig Davison, age 66, of Walcott, IA, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, May 25, 2009 surrounded by his family at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, IA. He received great comfort and strength from his faith in facing his many years of chronic pain and recent cancer diagnosis.
Burt was born July 30, 1942 to Burton and Lois (Britton) Davison in DuQuoin, IL. He married Donna C. Mordhorst on December 29, 1962 in Walcott, IA.
Burt graduated from DuQuoin Township High School in 1960. He owned and operated Burt's Texaco in Walcott retiring in 1997. He previously had worked in sales at French and Hecht for 23 years, set up franchises for Sandy's Restaurants and managed Dog n' Suds, Davenport, IA.
He was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott, IA where he had served as youth leader, chairman of the trustees and the finance committee. He also served as head usher for many years. Burt and his wife Donna prepared coffee fellowship every Sunday. He retired from the Walcott Fire Department. He was a member of the Walcott Community Club and the Walcott Day Committee, where Burt ordered and prepared the food to sell out of the food shacks for Walcott's big celebration day in it's earlier years. In later years, he was the announcer in the communication tent for Walcott Day. He was very active in Dad's Club softball where he coached for 14 years. Burt enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR races, especially Jeff Gordon. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, and spending time with them.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 4-7 P.M. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott, IA. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott, IA.
Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, IA. The officiant will be Rev. Connie Markle.
Serving as casket bearers will be Don Davison, Jeff Weber, Tom McCleery, Tug McCleery, Davis Weber, Jerry Hensen and John Brockmann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Davison, Donielle McCleery, Courtney Davison, Haley Davison, Dalani Weber and Larry Reiling.
Interment will take place at the Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, IA.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Donna Davison of Walcott, IA, his daughter: Susi and her husband Jeff Weber of Durant, IA and Tami and her husband Tom McCleery of Fruitland, IA, his son Burton "Don" and his wife Shelly Davison of Walcott, IA, 6 grandchildren: Donielle and Tug McCleery, Courtney and Haley Davison and Davison and Dalani Weber, his sisters: Janet and her husband Bill Miller of Christopher, IL, Jane and her husband Earl Spain of DuQuoin, IL and Mary Lois Harris of Tamaroa, IL, and his brother Benny and his wife Yvonne Davison of DuQuoin, IL and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed and his memory will be carried in their hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jean Uhles.
