Robert Simmons

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Robert Simmons, Jr., 42, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:20 P.M., Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Robert worked as a Laborer at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was of the protestant faith and a member of the Laborers Union 773. He was a US Air Force Veteran.

He was born May 28, 1966 at Kankakee, IL the son of Robert and Julia (Bishop) Simmons, Sr.

He married Ginger Elaine Kuhnert on August 1, 2005 at Pinckneyville and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, children- Shannon Brianne Simmons of De Soto, Trevor Brett Simmons of De Soto, Spencer Thomas Kuhnert of Du Quoin and Maci Elyse Collins of Du Quoin his parents- Rev. Robert Simmons, Sr. and wife Julia of Du Quoin, sisters- Mecca Simmons of New York, NY, Monica Mooring of Minot, ND and Sonya Gorrell of Atlanta, GA, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many beloved friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Robert Simmons, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Freddie Banks officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
