Nadine Hicks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Nadine Hicks, age 84, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at her home.

Nadine was born on February 24, 1925 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Clarence and Anna Marie (Presswood) Shute. On February 24, 1944, she married Dale E. Hicks in Granite City, IL and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2000. She had been the owner of Hicks Trading Station and Gun Shop, Pinckneyville, IL since 1964. She was a member at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL for 71 years and she taught Sunday school there for 56 years. Nadine had worked at the Garment Factory, Pinckneyville, IL for 27 years and was an avid jogger and earlier in life was a bowler and enjoyed playing softball. She spent most of her life enjoying her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons: Kevin (Rhonda) Hicks and Donald Hicks, all of Pinckneyville, IL, six grandchildren: Sherry Graskewicz, Donna (Scott) Long, Travis (Sarah) Hicks, Bryce (Becky) Hicks, Haven (Ashley) Hicks and Hayden Hicks, seven great-grandchildren: Daphne and Skyler Graskewicz, Nicholas McKinstry and Trenton Hicks, Amanda and Brandon Long and Taylor Hicks and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Herschel, George, Clarence and Ben Shute and three sisters: Margaret Lueker, Ethel Feltmeyer and Viola Denman and a daughter-in-law: Betty Hicks.

Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends may call at Beaucoup Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Luke Memorial Hospice or to the "All My Life I Wanted To Be A Panther" 2001 Scholarship.
