Jason F. "Jay" Harsy

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Jason F. "Jay" Harsy, 22, of Red Bud, passed away Thursday, May 7, at 3:39 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Jason was born in Du Quoin on May 22, 1986, before moving to Highland at age 7. In 8th grade he received a citizenship award. He graduated Highland High School in 2004 where he played football, basketball and tennis. He was a special escort for Homecoming his senior year. He attended SIU-E with concentration in Mass Communication. He was finished his junior year.

He had worked part time at Tru-Buy this past year while living in Highland. He helped people, had a great attitude and was a hard worker. He was "the guy you always wanted to hang out with." He had a good sense of humor and a lot of energy. His father is Superintendent of Red Bud Community High School District and his sister is finishing her Specialist Degree in Psychology at SIU-E.

He is survived by his father, J. Steven Harsy of Red Bud; mother, Marilyn M. Harsy nee Dommermuth of Red Bud; and sister, Jennifer D. Harsy of Red Bud.

Visitation was held Sunday, May 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland with Rev. Rob Davis officiating.

Funeral was held Monday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.
