Joann Ruth Mohr
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Joann Ruth Mohr, 74, of Du Quoin, went home to her Heavenly Father at 2:15 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2009 at her home with her loved ones around her.
Joann was a homemaker. She had worked many years in the garment factory and had worked as the cook at the Perry County Head Start Program for over twenty years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Sacred Heart Quilters. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters. She had been on the Funeral Dinner Committee at the church and enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends.
She was born June 1, 1934 at Vergennes, the daughter of Joseph M. and Ruth E. (Smith) Schafer.
She married Elmer T. Mohr on June 19, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and he survives.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband of Du Quoin, two sons - Karl Mohr of Johnston City and Randall Mohr and wife Karla of West City, one daughter - Lisa Mohr of Du Quoin, two grandchildren - Caron Sullens and husband Andy and their baby on the way of Decatur, and Shelly Mohr and fiancÈ Jason Fritz of Herrin, three step grandchildren - Drake LeBrun, Tyler Knowles and Morgan Knowles, all of West City, one sister - Mary Lou Epplin of Red Bud, and one sister-in-law - Helen Schafer of Pinckneyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Bernardine Nganzi officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Masses or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
