Lois E. Koerner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Lois E. Koerner, 95, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

She was a receptionist and staff accountant at Emling and Hoffman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin and also a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Thursday Women's Club.

She was born December 1, 1913 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Frank Ernest and Martha Elizabeth (Revelle) Dry.

She married Benjamin F. Koerner on June 29, 1937 at Waterloo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1988.

She is survived by nephew, Laurence E. Dry, II and wife Wanda of Oak Ridge, Tenn., niece, Carolyn Dry of Winona, Minn., and niece Ramona Melvin of Du Quoin. She is also survived by great nephews Marc B. Melvin and wife Karen, of Du Quoin, Michael D. Melvin and wife of Sarah of Du Quoin, John W. Melvin and wife Cindy of Du Quoin, Laurence E. Dry, III and wife Carrie of Downers Grove, great nieces Julie Mitchell and husband Ken of Kingsport, Tenn., Molly Dry of Knoxville, Tenn., Wendy Dry of Athens, Ga., and several great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the First Baptist Church Music Department and will be accepted at the funeral home.
