Raymond Carter Hobbs
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Raymond Carter Hobbs, 72, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Raymond had worked for seventeen years as a pit supervisor for Amax Coal Company. He was a member of the Liberty Church in Du Quoin. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was born February 18, 1937 at Trenton, IL, the son of William Joseph and Marie (Haas) Hobbs.
He married Ellen Y. Youngs on May 18, 1967 at Carlyle, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four daughters - Kay Outlan and husband William of Anna, Deborah Stevenson of Nashville, TN, Ellen McPherson and husband Paul of Du Quoin and Ray Lynn Hobbs of Du Quoin, two sons - Alan Stevenson of Nashville, TN, and Marshall Hobbs of Du Quoin, one brother - Wayne Hobbs and wife Norma of Highland, IL, fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and two great grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers - Larry, Gene, and Jerry.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Liberty Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Quinn officiating.
Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
