Grace E. Short

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Grace E. Short, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Grace had worked as a meat packer for thirty-five years at Blue Bell Packing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

She was born December 1, 1916 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Everett Conner and Henrietta (Tierney) Hackleman.

She married Raymond D. Beckham on October 16, 1934 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1985. She then married Loren K. Short on August 16, 1988 at Paducah, Ky., and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2003.

She is survived by two daughters - Joan Kuhnert and husband Ron of Du Quoin and Peggy Lux of Kirkland, Wash., ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son - Jerry Beckham, ten brothers and sisters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner and Rev. Fred Bishop officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Fairview Nursing Center, or No Greater Love Ministries, Inc. and will be accepted at the funeral home.
