Bernella J. Stocks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Bernella J. Stocks, age 83, of Du Quoin, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:38 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin.

Bernella was born on August 7, 1925 in Du Quoin, a daughter to Albert and Maude (Grubb) Appuhn. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Du Quoin, and Ladies Auxiliary at Marshall Browning Hospital. She had worked as a restaurant hostess for many years.

Survivors include her son: Jay T. (Betty Jo) Stocks of Belleville, brother: Jack Appuhn of Oceanside, Calif., sister-in-law: Mary Appuhn of Du Quoin, four grandchildren: Shannon (Craig) Forsythe of Portland, Texas, Shayne (Charles) Mercier of Du Quoin, Kelsey Stocks of Champaign, and Kyle Stocks of Belleville, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Lyle "Cotton" Appuhn, sister: Virginia Yates, and two sons: Alan Stocks and Steve Stocks.

Funeral services will be held in Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tim Scroggins officiating. Interment will be in Old Du Quoin Cemetery, Du Quoin.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
