Richard Dale "Dick" Peters

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Richard Dale "Dick" Peters, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.

Dick had worked as a local retailer and was a longtime resident of Du Quoin. He was a member of the Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge and I.O.O.F.

He was born August 28, 1917 at Orient Township, Iowa, the son of Finis Earl and Myrtle (Nicholls) Peters.

He married Anita Ida Chizek on January 11, 1937 at Jackson, Mo. and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2005.

He is survived by two daughter - Patricia A. Jent and husband Nick of Dallas, Texas and Susan R. Downey and husband John of Atlanta, Ga., one sister - Alice Riley of Farmdale, OH, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Per Mr. Peters' request, cremation services were held.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
