Dorothy L. Huie

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Dorothy L. Huie, 88, of Dowell, passed away at 3:50 A.M., Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Dorothy graduated from Elkville Community High School in 1939. She had worked as an LPN for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elkville. Dorothy was a very compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.

She was born January 15, 1921 at Elkville, IL, the daughter of William Cody and Elsie Maude (Adkins) Burns.

She married C. Radford "Red" Huie on January 14, 1948 at Toledo, Ohio and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1996.

She is survived by one daughter - Tawndra L. Huie of Dowell, one son - Roger B. Huie and wife Kathleen of Fort Pierce, Florida, one grandson - Aaron B. Huie of Orlando, Florida, one sister - Dorris L. Bechtlofft of Henderson, Kentucky and many nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters - Beulah Ondo, Bernadine Ondo, Ruby Greives, Maxine McCaslin, Mary Starcevich and Betty Lou Cobin, and brothers - Dwight Burns and Carl Burns.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gary Billiott officiating.

Burial services will be at a later date.
