</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sophia A. Schopfer, 74, of Ellis Grove, IL, died January 26, 2009 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
The daughter of William and Vova (Lyell) Vanover, she was born August 10, 1934 in Coulterville, IL.
On December 21, 1985, she married Randall Schopfer in Chester, IL.
Sophia was a retired Chef and had worked at the Royal Hotel and Reids Harvest House in Chester, and the Grove Cafe in Ellis Grove, IL. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ellis Grove, and the Eagles Auxiliary in Chester.
Survivors include her husband of Ellis Grove, IL; one son, Joseph (Vicki) Sievers of Slidell, LA; two grandsons, Aaron Sievers and Andrew Sievers, both of Slidell, LA; two sisters, Bertha (Charles) Caron of Evansville, IL and Bonnie Kaster of Chester, IL; one brother-in-law, Charles Schoenberger of Lake Whales, FL; special friend, Jamie Henry of Chester, IL; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers-William, Mark, and Vernon Vanover; and one sister, Laura Schoenberger.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Ellis Grove, IL with Rev. Roger Reid officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery in Ellis Grove.
