Jerry W. "JJ" Joyce
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Jerry W. "JJ" Joyce, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:20 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
JJ had worked as a tractor operator at Consol #4 Jamestown Mine. He had also worked in farming for Herman and Rick Krone for thirty-five years. He was a member of the UMW of A and a Du Quoin Volunteer Fireman for several years. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and an avid Du Quoin Indian fan, especially Girls' Softball.
He was born December 23, 1939 at Evansville, Ind., the son of Carl and Elsie (Niedermeier) Joyce.
He married Carolyn K. McCormick on June 2, 1958 at Du Quoin, and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two daughters - Tammy Kremer and husband Mike of Du Quoin, and Sandi Reidelberger and husband Roger of Buford, Ga., five grandchildren - Jared Kremer and wife Farrah, Matthew Kremer, Chelsea Kremer, all of Du Quoin, Ashton Reidelberger and Brittli Reidelberger, both of Buford, Ga., one great grandchild - Chase Kremer of Du Quoin, one sister - Patricia Joyce of Annadale, N.J., and his mother-in-law - Dorothy McCormick of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Charles Smith officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin High School Athletic Association or the Du Quoin Fire Department and will be accepted at the funeral home.
