Du Quoin Burglary Suspects Arrested
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Recent arrests may have ended a string of vehicle burglaries and solved the theft of band instruments from the Du Quoin High School.
Du Quoin Assistant Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said that on Thursday, Sandra L. Bauer, 24, of Du Quoin was arrested on three counts of burglary (Class II felonies).
Bauer was allegedly involved in three burglaries in Du Quoin in October and November of 2008.
Ellermeyer said that Bauer and another subject, Thomas S. Rector, 19, of Du Quoin allegedly entered into a van located on North Division Street, taking several different items , then entered a garage on North Division Street, taking several items from there, as well.
Rector is currently in the Perry County Jail on other charges and was charged on Friday with the more recent breakins.
Bauer's third charge comes from a burglary on or about November 12 when Bauer entered into the Du Quoin High School and removed several musical instruments with a plan to pawn the instruments.
Siefert Trucking Co. personnel foiled the theft and attempt to sell the instruments when they discovered the instruments hidden on their property near the railroad tracks alongside their property and alerted police.
All school property was returned the same day. Bauer was transported to the Perry County Jail and bond was to have been set on Friday.
Rector will also be charged with residential burglary (Class I felony). Police allege he and Jacquelin Elizabeth Bain, 20, of Du Quoin were involved in a residential burglary on November 29, 2008 at which time a federal housing unit was entered and a Dell laptop computer was taken. Bain was charged with residential burglary on thursday and taken to the Perry County Jail.
Ellermeyer said that other burglaries have taken place during the Christmas holidays have have not yet been solved. Christmas presents were stolen from one vehicle on North Vine Street on Christmas Eve. An Alpine stereo and Rockford Fosgate amplifier were taken from another vehicle just after the first of the year.
