Carole Ann Holland, 64,

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carole Ann Holland, 64, of Edwardsville, IL, died January 6, 2009 at her residence.

The daughter of Charles R. and Elaine (Baugher) Gardner, she was born August 29, 1944 in Detroit, MI.

On July 7, 1964, she married Rev. Arthur D. Holland in Harrisburg, IL, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She later married Dowain McKiou on September 5, 1998 in Salem.

An educator, Carol taught and retired from Centralia High School. She also served as faculty advisor for Phi Beta Lambda. She served alongside her husband in their ministries in the communities of Salem, Chester, Mt. Vernon, and Vandalia. While at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem she was involved with Bells of Grace. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing with her husband Dowain.

Survivors include her husband, Dowain McKiou, of Edwardsville; one son, Gardner (Beverly) Holland of Edwardsville, IL; one daughter, Emily Holland of Edwardsville; two brothers-John (Gayla) Gardner of Harrisburg, IL, and Brian Gardner of Alton, IL; father-in-law, Arthur Holland of Harrisburg, IL; two aunts-Ruth Upchurch of Galatia, IL, and Neila Mae (Gene) Schlau of Centralia, IL; one granddaughter, Anna Holland of Edwardsville; and three nieces-Erin, Natalie, and Sydney.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem with Revs. Robert R. Smith, Robert Edwards, William B. Lewis, Earl Renshaw, Sheryl Palmer, Murriel Nance, and Tom Corum officiating. Burial will follow at Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund in Salem or to St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
