Milton Leo Roberts

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Milton Leo Roberts, Sr., age 75, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at his home.

Milton was born on June 26, 1933, in Brookfield, Mo., a son to Leo and Mildred (Davis) Roberts. He married Marilyn Batson on June 2, 1953 in Biloxi, Miss. and she survives. They were married for 55 years. Milton was a graduate of Sandoval Community High School and attended 1 year at Centralia Junior College. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, served in the United Sates Air Force for three years, worked for Valley Steel Products as an office manager for 36 years in Irvington, and Louisiana, Mo., managed the Sparta Yard in Eden, and after retiring, worked for Gilster Mary Lee Corp, Steeleville, for 10 years.

Milton was an avid sports fan playing both basketball and baseball at Sandoval High School. He loved golf and was a member of Nashville Golf Course and Du Quoin, Pinckneyville Red Hawk and Sparta Country Clubs. He loved to hunt deer, rabbits and squirrels, he loved to fish when he had the chance, liked playing horseshoes and was a really good bowler.

He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Roberts of Pinckneyville, one daughter: Janet (Roberts) Kim of Pinckneyville, one foster son: John (Cassie) Batson of Kentucky, one foster daughter: Jeannine (Baston) Finney of Pinckneyville, two brothers-in-law: Davis Batson of Sparta, and Bob Batson of Pinckneyville, and was a grandfather figure to David, Samuel and Adam Finney and Susan, Tony, and Katie Kim of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Milton Leo Roberts, Jr. one grandson: Joshua Kim and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jim Barnett and Pastor Allen Mason officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, December 18, 10 a.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Centralia.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
